Secondary Clubs & Activities

Open to: All students grades 6-10

Description: The Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) is a Federal program sponsored by the United States Armed Forces in high schools across the United States. The program was originally created as part of the National Defense Act of 1916 and later expanded under the 1964 ROTC Vitalization Act. The purpose of Junior ROTC is to instill in students in the United States secondary educational institutions the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment.

Robotics Club

Sponsor: John Tittle

Open to: 6th-10th graders

Description: Members of the Robotics Club will pursue forming a competition team for FIRST® Tech Challenge, a nationwide robotics competition. Members will work together to raise funds, find sponsors, purchase materials and learn the hardware and software components required to program a robot for competition. The goal of the club will be to send a CCA team to the 2017-2018 competition.

Elementary Clubs & Activities

Cooking Club

Sponsor: Kim Melton

Open to: 2nd-5th graders

Description: Students will work with a professional caterer to learn basic cooking skills using the facilities at the CCA campus. Each student will receive an individualized cooking kit to use throughout the year. No experience is necessary, and all skills levels are welcome. Students will experience preparing entrees, sides and appetizers. Student-prepared food items may be sent home to share.

Chess Club

Sponsor: Amanda Bryson

Open to: K-5th graders

Description: Research shows that learning and playing the game of chess strengthens the mind and develops the character of students. Inexperienced players will start by learning the moves made by each piece, working up to playing full games. Experienced players will have time to sharpen skills through practice in a friendly, relaxed environment. No experience required for this club.

Etiquette Club

Sponsor: Daniella Bezerra

Open to: 3rd-5th graders

Description: CCA students will come together to learn social manners, table manners and other etiquette rules. Class will include hands on activities such as: writing thank you cards, setting up a dinner table and hospitality tips. Your little lady and/or gentleman will also learn the ABC’s of good character. Good manners never go out of style!

Mommy & Me Art Club

Open to: K-1st graders and a parent

Description: CCA students and their moms will work together to create one of a kind works of art using a variety of media.  Our theme for the quarter is “All Creatures Great and Small.”

Art Club

Instructor: Julie Villa

Open to: 2nd-5th graders

Description: Students will create a variety of 2-D and 3-D works of art using mixed media and found (recycled) materials.

LEGO Robotics

Open to: 4th and 5th graders

Description: Students will work in pairs using simple machine and motor LEGO kits to design and build their own working machines.

Open to: K-3rd graders

Description: Students will enjoy building together with friends in a safe and relaxed environment. Each student will have a turn to bring in a creation from home to share about. Parents will be invited to a culminating showcase with LEGO-themed treats.

Community Service Club

Sponsor: Autumn Beyer

Open to: K-5th graders and their families

Description: CCA families and students will come together to serve the wider community and reach out with love and practical help. This will be an opportunity to fellowship with other CCA families while working on special projects such as Operation Christmas Child, serving families of deployed service members, visiting local nursing homes, gathering food for local pantries, or providing backpacks for schoolchildren. Club members will be encouraged to contribute ideas for service and outreach. Service projects may be scheduled on non-meeting days. Participation in meetings is not required for participating in service projects.

Worship Dance

Sponsor/Instructor: Kassandra Wilson

Open to: K-5th graders

Description: Students will participate in worshipful dance that incorporates elements from ballet, modern dance and dramatic interpretation. Students will learn choreography set to Christian music that has biblical messages. We will focus on using dance for worship, enriching the body of Christ and drawing the hearts of the dancers closer to him. Students will present a worship dance piece at one or more Community Meetings.

Elementary Cheerleading Club

Sponsor/Instructor: Tonia Chapman

Open to: K-5th graders

Description: Students will get the chance to learn basic cheer motions, jumps, and tumbling. They will also learn cheers/chants, and a dance performed by our CCA cheerleaders! This will build school spirit and students will learn the importance of encouraging everyone around them! The cheerleading club will close with an end of the school year performance!
